Calculating
DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT EVERYTHING I EXPLAIN HERE WORKS FOR EVERY SHOT. NEITHER DO I GUARANTEE THAT THE FORMULA OR NUMBERS PROVIDED ARE FLAWLESS! OBVIOUSLY IF YOU’RE FROM PANGYA EU YOU SHOULD – ACCORDING TO THEIR TERMS OF USE – NOT CALCULATE. HOWEVER, IF YOU PLAY ON PANGYA EU AND STILL USE THIS INFO TO CALCULATE YOUR SHOTS AND/OR ADVERTISE THIS SITE ON THEIR FORUMS I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY REPERCUSSIONS! I AM ALSO NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU DO NOT ENJOY THE GAME ANYMORE ONCE YOU HAVE LEARNED CALCULATING. DO NOT BLAME ME FOR SPOILING YOUR FUN. YOU MAY ALSO FIND THAT YOU REACH A CERTAIN LEVEL VERY QUICKLY BUT CAN NEVER CLIMB ANY FURTHER AND QUIT. WHICH MEANS YOU HAVE NO DETERMINATION. THIS IS NOT MY FAULT EITHER!!!
!!! If you are new to the game and/or have never calculated before, please read tonycheese’s guide first !!!
For this guide to work properly, you will HAVE to use 640*480 resolution and disable anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering (in your Windows Video Card settings). If it looks ugly and you do not like it use a different method or just do not calculate =]
Here I will explain everything that is necessary to calculate a shot with the given formula for 1 Wood Tomahawk and Backspin only. It is a walk-through starting with some basic concepts/physics without calculations and general info about 250y drive and its limitations, then moving onto the method and the formula itself with all its parts and purposes. There will be some examples for angle reading, no spoon feeding, but enough to give you an example how to figure out readings yourself. I will show 1 screenshot of a ballslope to give you an idea of what to look for when reading slope.
And lastly. If you do not enjoy calculating. Stop reading here. If you prefer to play by feel and enjoy the game more that way, then you should do so. I am not telling you how to play the game. I am merely sharing a method for chip-ins which can offer a certain degree of consistency for people who would like to go about the game in a more controlled manner.

bookmark’d for pangyaUS opening. :]
wow, there seems to be something wrong lol, u sound very strict hehe but thanks a lot (: for everything
im confused as to how to disable anti aliasing and anisotropic filtering. (btw anisotropic is misspelled ohohoho)
ummmmmm could you post a screencap of your video settings so i could replicate them in-game?
Anisotropic filtering/Anti-Aliasing is a Windows setting, not a game setting. If you have disabled it in windows, you’re good to go.
quick question – my pangya basically crashes at 640 x 480 full screen (and window mode i cant see the stupid pangya bar) so I’ve been using 800 x 600 with an index card that I made from the 640 window.
unfortunately my shots aren’t always accurate (but they do work sometimes). IS there any other method of measuring besides this power bar method or am I basically screwed? š¦
There are ways to use the F12 trick. It brings up a layout of your keyboard on your screen and you can use that to aim, but I have not clue as to where the measurements would be.
Alternatively you could do the entire thing in tiles. To convert all the values to Tiles you do this:
(PowerbarValue / 5) * 1.078 = tile value
Elevation becomes: 0.0029 per 1m elevation
Gl
oh the tile method, i get so confused with that when the tiles get diagonal though rofl. thanks though I’ll give it a shot
Well, i guess you have to stick something to the bottom part of your screen or something, otherwise it worn’t work out all. Otherwise figure out the F12 trick ;>
Haii Sinneah & Flashlatty… nice Guides, thanks for all the info.
@ Hinano: I used to play using the tile method, it’s easy enough, and not very different from the powerbars method.
Each tile, if you put the max zoom on the green, is measured by 50% of your entire powerbar… so, for each 5.0 on the powerbars method, is 1.0 on the tile method. ^.~
Thanks to your guides i can now start dreaming with some -30s+
This is incorrect. 1 Tile = 4.64 Powerbars. How did I get the value? Like this:
(1 Tile x 5) / 1.078 = 4.638 (Powerbar Value)
Changing things around would be:
(5 Powerbars / 5) * 1.078 = 1.078 Tiles
Woah thanks.
I thought i had it right. Sorry, Hinano. lol
Gotta try this f12 trick sometime…
Do you still play, Sinneah? I thought you had quitted…
I stopped playing quite a while ago. F12 trick is lame š
Also, I heard the US server is failing already ;>
I stopped playing too.
The US server is shitty rite now, but that’s all NtreevUSA’s fault.
They banned a bunch of innocents and their GG updates are not effective. D:
